The guys over at Car Magazine videotaped their first encounter with the recently revised Porsche 911 Carrera 2 S (see wallpape gallery here). The particular test car was equipped with the German sports carmaker’s first ever double clutch semi-auto gearbox dubbed PDK. Not that it comes to a surprise to anyone aware of the dramatic shift in consumer tastes in the U.S. combined with the knowledge of what the former Big Three have to offer, but just as they did in May, Japanese carmakers took the first four positions in Autodata’s U.S. top 20 best selling vehicles list. The only difference compared to May is the order of the protagonists, as the Toyota Corolla/Matrix dethroned the Honda Civic that fell in third position, right after the Toyota Camry that took second place. Honda’s Accord managed to maintain the fourth position, followed by Ford’s F-Series that saw its sales shrink 40.5% compared to last year. Notably, Hyundai’s not so well received Sonata managed to make it in the top 10 list with an 11.9% gain over last June’s sales. -See the top 20 list after the jump

Based on the Audi A5 Coupe 3.0 TDI, the White Speed is Senner Tuning’s latest offering. The German tuner has supped up the A5 Coupe’s appearance with the addition of a full bodykit that sports carbon-fiber elements combined with new 21 inch alloy wheels. On the technical side, Senner Tuning’s engine kit boosts the 3.0-liter V6 turbodiesel’s output to 300Hp (from 240Hp) and torque to 610Nm allowing the A5 Coupe to reach a top speed of 280 km/h or 175 mph. Other improvements include the new suspension kit that brings the vehicle 40 millimeters closer to the road. -Pics after the jump
Representing a-no-expenses-spared tuning proposition, the Range Rover Country Pursuits Concept (CPC) made its debut today alongside the SuperSport II at the Salon Prive Luxury and Supercar Show in Inside, Overfinch dressed the Range Rover’s cabin with bespoke Nappa leather in special Light Avocado with Cordovan (Aubergine) accents and hand crafted Olive Ash veneered centre console, door accents and drinks tray. For those of you who like hunting, Overfinch also modified the Range Rover’s luggage compartment by adding a special removable gun box with Olive Ash veneered front and 3 sliding drawers which will hold a bespoke gun case, cartridges and crystal glass drinking set.
In terms of performance, Overfinch upgraded the 4.2 litre Supercharged V8 engine that now develops 470Hp (from 396Hp). Additional mods include the high performance Brembo braking system with silver Overfinch branded callipers and the enhanced on road/off suspension system.
Deliveries of the Overfinch CPC are set to begin in October with prices starting from £123,495 or $246,000 for the diesel variants and £143,950 or $287,000 for the 4.2 Supercharged V8.
These are the first official images of the 2009 Kia Forte that will replace the Spectra, or as it’s called in Unless you paycheck comes from Kia or Hyundai, the Forte’s design brings to mind the Honda Civic (especially the front-end) and if you've had one or two glasses of French wine, you may even find a couple of similarities with the long-gone Citroen Xsara in the styling of the car’s rear quarters. -Continued

From what we gathered by looking around the net, the forthcoming 2010 Mazda3 is one of the most highly anticipated future vehicles. That was more than evident with the supposedly official Mazda3 Concept pictures (see here) that managed to create quite a hype on the internet. Unfortunately for some, these new renderings come from the Italian website “Infomotori”. The designer of these new chops took a different approach, applying elements from the Nagare, Ryuga, Hakaze, Taiki and Furai concept cars to a an enlarged version of the Mazda2. Not bad but we would have definetely preferred a different styling for the front-end. –More pics after the jump

Tatra, not to be confused with the Indian carmaker Tata, is a Czech vehicle manufacturer founded in 1850 that produced its first motor car in 1897 and the last one, in 1999 (it continues to build trucks today). Though the company has no official plans to create a new car, Czech magazine AutoDesign&Styling summoned designer Mike Jelinek to draw up a concept of a futuristic Tatra model. Jelinek came up with the Tatra 903 Concept, a fuel-cell powered 4door-coupe. -ContinuedHere’s what Jelinek had to say about his creation:
“The water drop shaped back refers to one of the most characteristic values of Tatra, the aerodynamics – same as covered rear wheels. It may look retro, but in the term of aerodynamic optimization it has its own purpose,” said Jelinek.
"The A-pillar has moved in the axis of the car – again, not just a quotation of split screen theme pointing back to the original models, but certainly a safety factor designed to offer a better view from the car. I didn’t want to refer to any model from the history of this legendary manufacturer, but I tried to catch something like the spirit of Tatra cars and bring it to aesthetics of the 21st century.” added Jelinek.

The way we see it, unless some Saudi prince or Texan gas-ilioner decides to drop the price of an oil-barrel under the $100 mark, by the end of the year Hummer might manage to put itself out of its misery. In June, GM’s brand sold a mere 2,072 units, down 59.3 percent compared to June 2007 when it sold 5,093 vehicles. During the first half of the year, Hummer sales declined a whopping 40.4 percent compared to the first six months of 2007 (16,158 vs 27,108 units). Think Hummer will make it till the end of 2008?
