The Italian firm said that the comments were "entirely unfounded" and that its plans for total employee reductions are less than 10,000 and would take place gradually and be distributed throughout the maker's European operations. "The impact for the workforce in Germany, therefore, would be significantly lower than speculated," Fiat said in a statement.
