2009 Cadillac CTS-V Captured Unmasked

The all-new 2009 Cadillac CTS-V has been caught without a trace of camouflage by Car Online’s spy photographers, just a few weeks ahead of its world premiere at the 2008 Detroit Motor Show in January. Cadillac has set its eyes on the BMW M5 with the new generation CTS-V that will most probably be equipped with the Corvette Z06’s 7.0-liter V8 powerplant delivering around 520 HP. That should be good enough to sprint the CTS-V from zero to 60 mph (96 km/h) in under 5,0 seconds while top speed should be in excess of 175 mph – 280 km/h.

Appearance-wise, Cadillac’s designers chose to hand a more brutish look to the CTS-V that features a power bulge on the bonnet, flared wheelarches housing 19-inch alloy wheels and a two-piece trapezoidal mesh grille. To be honest, if we hadn't known that this was the 2009 CTS-V, we'd probably have passed it for a SEMA car developed by an independent tuner.

And yes, we’re disappointed, as the CTS-V doesn’t know whether it wants to look luxurious, sporty, muscular, supped up or just plain sleek. A little bit of everything makes a whole lot of nothing…
