Fiat has announced that group chief marketing officer Luca De Meo has been appointed today as the new CEO of Alfa Romeo, taking the place of Antonio Baravalle, who decided to leave the automotive industry at his own will. Baravelle will become CEO of Einaudi, a book publisher owned by Italy's Mondadori media group. Interestingly, De Meo will retain his current position as chief marketing officer of Fiat Group’s brands (Abarth, Alfa Romeo, Fiat, Fiat Professional LCVs, Lancia, Maserati, Iveco and Case New Holland). Fiat CEO Sergio Marchionne said: 'The way Luca De Meo has dealt with big challenges with commitment, passion and determination is the best guarantee for the relaunch of Alfa Romeo and for the development of marketing for all the Fiat group brands.'
