After nearly 40 years of absence, GM’s Cadillac luxury brand will go on sale in Australia in 2008. During an end-of-year lunch for the media in Melbourne today, Holden chairman and managing director Chris Gubbey said, “With cutting-edge design, serious performance and luxury appointments, Cadillac will appeal to Australian prestige car buyers and quickly establish itself in a segment traditionally dominated by European brands". -Continued The first Cadillac to arrive on Australian shores will be the new CTS sedan. With sales set to start during the forth quarter of 2008, the CTS will be available with the 304 HP 3.6-litre V6 while in 2009, Cadillac plans to introduce a 2.9-litre V6 turbo diesel version. According to Holden, the Cadillac CTS will compete against cars like the BMW 3-Series and Audi A4 A4. Other Cadillac models will be introduced at a later date.
