The German automaker’s new small car platform codenamed “PQ25” that made its debut in the new Seat Ibiza earlier this year offers the possibility of all-wheel drive (AWD) option according to Erich Schmitt, president of Seat. Although VW Group’s Spanish division will not offer an AWD option for its new Apart from the all-new Audi A1 that’s expected in 2009, the next generation version of the Volkswagen Cross Polo that will also be introduced in 2009 will also be offered with an all-wheel-drive system. The current Cross Polo (pictured above) which is virtually a crossover version of the 5-door subcompact hatch, is available exclusively in front-wheel drive format.
